A close look at nature’s power and beauty is the main characteristic of Natasha’s work. Almost all her paintings can be captured under the “Portraits of Nature” title. Natasha puts colorful birds, powerful wild animals, precious pets and beautiful flowers on her canvasses. She works almost exclusively in oils.

Born in Russia, Natasha has loved to paint since childhood. She studied classic oil painting and the history of art in Moscow. After receiving her Fine Arts Diploma, she worked for the largest then Russian art monthly, "The Art".

To make "Portraits of Nature" is a life long journey for Natasha. She participated in several exhibitions in Russia and Ukraine. The close-up images and rich colors of Natasha’s well detailed paintings send strong messages. Her technique reflects the centuries old traditions of the Russian school of painting.

After coming to Canada in 1978 Natasha's art work slowed down somewhat. Her family had to re-establish itself in the new homeland. Later she began to paint again and her paintings have been acquired for several private collections.

This show at Goward House is Natasha's second meeting with Victoria art lovers. Her first was at the 2005 Moss Street Paint-in where her paintings were received warmly. "The Victoria Public is knowledgeable and sophisticated" - says Natasha - "To be recognized here means a lot for an artist"
